Multiphysics Modeling of Manufacturing Processes Using COMSOL® - Archived
Today's competitive manufacturing landscape has made it imperative to optimize the various processes involved, such as material fabrication, welding, and additive manufacturing. These processes need to be precise in order to obtain the desired outcome, meaning that the different physics phenomena involved need to be considered, including heat transfer, fluid flow, and structural mechanics. Multiphysics simulation provides an advantage by enabling engineers to couple different phenomena in a single model, allowing them to visualize designs and perform quick iterations while reducing the need for physical prototyping.
Tune in to this webinar to explore the capabilities of multiphysics simulation for modeling manufacturing processes. For instance, we will discuss how simulation can be used to improve material fabrication processes such as casting, steel quenching, and electrochemical etching as well as different types of welding, including arc welding, laser welding, and friction stir welding. Additionally, we will go over the functionality in the COMSOL® software for analyzing thermal stresses and expansion, predicting structural defects, modeling nonlinear materials, and performing topology and material optimization.
The webinar will include a demonstration of modeling fluid–structure interaction in aluminum extrusion and an additive manufacturing example.
