Displacement Field Notation: Potential for Confusion in Solid Mechanics?

In the solid mechanics module, wouldn't using one symbol for both the displacement field and the first component of the displacement field cause confusion?

There are several physics interfaces in COMSOL, not only in the realm of structural mechanics, that have this property.

I agree that it may look confusing, but in practice there will never be any ambiguity. It is very seldom that you need to enter a field name, and in those cases, only a field name will be accepted.
