Model Inputs problem (Material dispersion)

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi, everyone!
I am trying to simulate material dispersion ( gold J&C) in Frequency Domain (eigenfrequency study ) using Model Input ( Frequency) of the material.
But results seems to be wrong (
I suspect that 'freq' is not actual variable for frequency that Solver using during computations( looking for right (eigen) frequency). Does anyone know the right variable for frequency?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
P.S: I know about another option to include Drude-Lorentz dispertion model in Wave Equation setting, but this doesn't work for me either ( wrong results).

Nina,

May be you can play with eigenvalue linearization for Eigenvalue Solver to account for frequency-dependent material properties.

Sergei

Thanks a lot Sergei ! Now I got expected results )
It works perfectly for version 4 and latter.
For version 3.5 it works a little bit diffrent , when entering 'Transform point' not frequency but eigenvalue should be entered (see attachment).
If somebody else experience the same difficulties i found this www.comsol.com/model/lossy-circular-waveguide-1418 to be very useful.

Hi

why haven't COMSOL added some units to help [Hz] versus [rad/s] ?
there are also a few units issues in the first 5.1 in i.e. phase variables showing up in [deg] but noted in [rad]

Good luck
