COMSOL Notice of Academic Licensed Rights
COMSOL licenses purchased at a discounted educational price will be subject to separate license provisions and further restrictions explained in detail in the Academic Addendum of the COMSOL Software License Agreement or in any negotiated agreement existing between your institution and COMSOL. The purpose of this notice is to ensure that you are aware of these separate license provisions and restrictions. This notice is merely a summary for your convenience. The COMSOL Software License Agreement, with its Academic Addendum, or any negotiated agreement between your institution and COMSOL, shall be the official document controlling what can and cannot be done with your license. You can access the COMSOL Software License Agreement, with its Academic Addendum at: www.comsol.com/sla or from the installation folder of the software.
Academic Usage
Licenses purchased at a discounted educational price must be used for academic purposes—not for commercial, governmental, or contractual work purposes. CKL licenses are further limited to use in support of classroom instruction and homework—and not for academic research. In the event that COMSOL Compiler is now, or becomes, a part of a discounted educational license, such product may be used for commercial purposes.
Ownership of the License
The license will be owned by your institution and must remain in the possession of your institution. Ownership of the license may not be transferred without prior written consent from COMSOL.
Eligible Users
The license may be used by your institution, namely such faculty, staff, students and/or others authorized to use the license under the Academic Addendum of the COMSOL Software License Agreement or in accordance with the terms and conditions of any agreement existing between your institution and COMSOL. Among other things, this means that all software and downloads associated with the license must be used exclusively by such faculty, staff, students, and/or others of your institution who are authorized to use the license under the Academic Addendum of the COMSOL Software License Agreement or in accordance with the terms and conditions of any agreement existing between your institution and COMSOL. However, ASL licenses may be accessed and used by faculty, staff, and students of your institution or of any other academic institution. For NSL licenses, the license may only be used by the person designated to us as the named single user. CKL licenses may be used solely in support of classroom instruction by faculty, staff, and students and homework by students.
Remote Usage
The NSL, FNL, and CKL license types are subject to limited remote access under the terms and conditions of the COMSOL Software License Agreement and its Academic Addendum or of any agreement existing between your institution and COMSOL. Remote access is not permitted for CPU-locked licenses. ASL licenses may be accessed and used remotely.
Additional Restrictions
This is not an exhaustive summary of the restrictions applicable to academic licenses. Please consult the COMSOL Software License Agreement and its Academic Addendum or any agreement between your institution and COMSOL for a comprehensive list. You can access the COMSOL Software License Agreement, with its Academic Addendum at: www.comsol.com/sla.
Acknowledgement
