Structural Evaluation of a Hydraulic Loader Crane Using COMSOL Multiphysics® Software

A hydraulic loader crane (HLC) is a machine used for cargo handling. It's structural project is complex due to several requirements. In this case, validation with simulation is advantageous. The objective of this paper is to evaluate the stresses of a HLC and compare it with results obtained from structural calculation according to DIN EN 12999 standard.
The simulation's results obtained with COMSOL Multiphysics are close to those obtained trough structural calculation and it have the advantage of finding maximum stresses locations which can be used for design optimizations.
