Problem Description

After updating my Apple Silicon computer to macOS 15, COMSOL Multiphysics 6.0 and 6.1 have stopped working.

Solution

There are two possible workaround for this issue:

Install COMSOL Multiphysics version 6.2

As COMSOL Multiphysics version 6.2 is not affected by this, the easiest workaround is to install version 6.2 by downloading the installation media from our Product Download Page

Keep using versions 6.0 and 6.1

If you want to keep using the older versions of COMSOL Multiphysics, the issue can be solved by deleting a directory under your COMSOL Multiphysics installation and replacing the GraphicsMagick files COMSOL Multiphysics uses with newer ones:

For COMSOL Multiphysics 6.0, do the following:
  1. From a terminal, run the command rm -r /Applications/COMSOL60/Multiphysics/lib/macarm64/libc++*

  2. Download the archive cs62gm.tar.gz from below and unpack it into the directory /Applications/COMSOL60/Multiphysics/ext/graphicsmagick/macarm64. When prompted, select to replace files.

  3. Download the archive cs62gm_license.zip from below. Unpack it and read through the new licensing agreement for the GraphicsMagick package.

For COMSOL Multiphysics 6.1, do the following:
  1. From a terminal, run the command rm -r /Applications/COMSOL61/Multiphysics/lib/macarm64/libc++*

  2. Download the archive cs62gm.tar.gz from below and unpack it into the directory /Applications/COMSOL61/Multiphysics/ext/graphicsmagick/macarm64. When prompted, select to replace files

  3. Download the archive cs62gm_license.zip from below. Unpack it and read through the new licensing agreement for the GraphicsMagick package.
