Keynote: Automotive Audio in the Digital Age
The goal of audio systems is to recreate live sound as accurately as possible, no matter where they are being used. However, this goal is not so easily achieved when dealing with automotive audio systems. In this keynote talk, Patrick Dennis of Nissan discusses the challenges of working with such audio systems and how he uses simulation to aid in his research. Specifically, Dennis discusses using the COMSOL Multiphysics® software for:
- Simulating in-vehicle speaker placement
- Analyzing simple speaker models
- Gaining insight into car door speaker performance
Dennis concludes his talk with a brief discussion of audio system tuning and a tool he developed for listening to automotive audio systems in a virtual domain.
Patrick Dennis is the principal engineer for in-vehicle acoustics at Nissan. He has more than 30 years of experience working within the audio system space and is currently the vice chairman of the Audio Engineering Society Technical Committee (AES) for Automotive Audio.
