Keynote: Designing and Optimizing Sonos® Smart Speakers Using COMSOL Multiphysics®
Modern smart speakers are as difficult to design as they are popular to produce. In this keynote talk from COMSOL Day: Acoustics 2022, Wei Yang and Brizi Brown of Sonos, Inc. discuss how they use multiphysics simulation to speed up the design process of smart speakers. Specifically, they go over how they use the COMSOL Multiphysics® software to analyze:
- Tweeter waveguide pressure acoustics
- Port performance in an enclosure
- Nonlinear behavior
- Microphone position
- Sound propagation in rooms
Wei Yang is a principal acoustic engineer at Sonos leading interdisciplinary teams in developing acoustic transducers and the associated subsystems for their smart speakers. Brizi Brown is a Sonos audio systems engineer with 16+ years of simulation experience. Her work focuses on the modeling and simulation of audio systems to gain a better understand of how they will interact with the acoustics of the spaces that they are placed in.
