Keynote: Understanding the Complexity of High-Speed Simulations in Oven Design
Competitive markets necessitate modern simulations and complex models, and as models get more complex, computational resources need to match that growth. In this keynote talk from the COMSOL Conference 2023 Munich, Christian Bianchi of UNOX explores how COMSOL Multiphysics® can be used together with cloud computing to create complex oven models and improve product timelines.
Before highlighting two oven benchmark models, Bianchi discusses his understanding of complex models and shares his past work with electromagnetics modeling. Then, Bianchi compares two benchmark models: an electromagnetics model of a choke, which is a reflector inside an oven door, and a heat transfer model of a large oven. Through these examples, he gives a comparison between running simulations on local workstations and distributing the workload on multiple nodes. He concludes the talk by sharing how, with the help of high-speed simulation, UNOX developed an advanced, high-speed microwave oven, going from the product concept phase to product launch in only a year and a half.
Christian Bianchi received his MS and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Padua, Italy. He is currently the electromagnetic design technology leader at UNOX S.p.A., a worldwide manufacturer of ovens for professional use.
