Heat transfer in porous media with phase change

Hi! I am modelling water pipes buried in the ground during a year in a cold winter climate. I want to calculate the frost depth in the ground in order to prevent freezing of the water pipes. I am considering the soil to be the physics "Heat transfer in porous media".

My question: Is it possible to model phase change in the physics "Heat transfer in porous media"?

Because I have been trying without any success, so if any one have any idea in how to solve this problem I will be very grateful!

Dear Filip,

you can add the phase change latent heat to your heat capacity material data of the soil.
You can take a look in www.comsol.com/model/phase-change-474
But you need to manually change the material in that case.

There should be plenty of data available on the method, and that is also applicable to soil. Think about the fraction of water vs. solid though in your material.
