Cathodic Protection Designer
Application ID: 93791
The Cathodic Protection Designer application is an example of how an application can be used to simplify the simulation process by featuring a way to import a generic CAD file with certain requirements. Using this app, the user can select each part of the geometry and set boundary conditions according to a typical simulation scheme within the corrosion industry for cathodic protection designs. The app’s user can also choose the boundary conditions; specify if it is a cathode or an anode; and can solve for initial, mean, and final current densities. The results can be exported as a report in a variety of formats.
The app is especially useful for analyzing simplified simulations of general cathodic protection designs where the geometry can be created so that all different parts that should have different boundary conditions are separate objects.
This application example illustrates applications of this type that would nominally be built using the following products:
however, additional products may be required to completely define and model it. Furthermore, this example may also be defined and modeled using components from the following product combinations:
- COMSOL Multiphysics® and
- CAD Import Module and
- either the Battery Design Module, Corrosion Module, Electrochemistry Module, Electrodeposition Module, or Fuel Cell & Electrolyzer Module
The combination of COMSOL® products required to model your application depends on several factors and may include boundary conditions, material properties, physics interfaces, and part libraries. Particular functionality may be common to several products. To determine the right combination of products for your modeling needs, review the Specification Chart and make use of a free evaluation license. The COMSOL Sales and Support teams are available for answering any questions you may have regarding this.
